A Scenario and Feature Matrix organizes scenarios into incremental value. You start with your "must have" scenarios to define your minimum set. This is your baseline release. Next you add your additional scenarios.

This let's you quickly see dependencies and impact. If you need to cut scope, now you can make informed decisions around dependencies.

By using the matrix, you can quickly see how robust your project is for dealing with cutting scope and for delivering incremental value. It's also a powerful tool when you have to communicate to management why you can or can't cut a given feature or set of features or at least show the impact.
